For CPA firms and tax preparers

A bookkeeping partner for CPA firms and tax preparers.

Your clients need someone on their books every month. You need reconciled numbers and clean schedules at year end, not a shoebox in March. I do the monthly work and hand you books you can rely on.

What changes

Better books for your clients. Fewer surprises for you.

What your clients get

  • Monthly bookkeeping, with every account reconciled and the month closed
  • Payroll run on schedule, with payroll taxes paid on time
  • Cleanup and catch-up for clients who've fallen behind
  • QuickBooks Online set up properly from the start
  • One person who answers the phone and knows their books

What you get at year end

  • Every bank, credit card and loan account reconciled to the statement
  • A year-end package: trial balance, general ledger detail and reconciliations
  • Fixed asset, loan and prepaid schedules
  • A 1099 vendor list, with W-9s collected during the year
  • Your adjusting entries posted the way you direct
  • Questions answered by me, directly, without the client in the middle

How it works

How we'd work together.

  1. 1

    You introduce us

Send a client my way, or introduce us by email. I'll set up a free 20-minute call with them.

  2. 2

    I quote and start

The client gets a fixed monthly quote in writing. If they're behind, I quote the cleanup separately so there are no surprises.

  3. 3

    The books close every month

I reconcile and close each month in the client's own QuickBooks Online file. You're welcome to your own accountant access any time.

  4. 4

    Year end on your timeline

Tell me what you need and when. I'll deliver the package and answer your follow-up questions directly.

Why me

I've been on the other side of the audit.

  • 30 years in accounting, including controller and corporate controller roles
  • Year-end audit packages and about 150 balance sheet reconciliations each close
  • Sarbanes-Oxley controls and SEC reporting support
  • Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor, certified in QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks payroll
  • A bookkeeper, not a CPA. I don't prepare returns, so I'm not competing for your clients

Questions

What CPA firms ask me.

Do you prepare tax returns?

No. I'm a bookkeeper, not a CPA, and I don't prepare tax returns or give tax advice. Your clients stay your clients. I keep their books and hand you what you need for the return.

Who does the client pay?

The client pays me directly for bookkeeping, month to month, and you bill them for your own work as usual. If your firm prefers a different setup, we can talk about it.

Can I get access to the QuickBooks file?

Yes. The client owns their QuickBooks Online file and can invite you as their accountant at any time. Many CPAs like to look in during the year, and I welcome it.

Which clients are a good fit?

Owner-run businesses with steady monthly activity, from a handful of accounts up to inventory, job costing or more than one entity, anywhere in the U.S. Monthly bookkeeping starts at $600 a month.
